Movie: Green Lantern

Everybody loves the Hollywood "it" pair Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Despite being married for quite some time, the couple is notorious for their playful antics and public displays of affection on social media. In 2010, they met on the set of Green Lantern, but the chemistry between them was slow to develop.

As Reynolds revealed in an interview, they were both with other people at the time. The M.C.U. star was married to Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson, while Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star. Reynolds said the two were just “buddies,” until they reconnected a few years later and began dating. 

Movie: Mad Men

Year:  2012 

The romance between Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser fared better than the love stories we saw on Mad Men, a period TV show that featured a lot of drama, infidelity, and sales tactics (although everyone got to fall in love with Jon Hamm, so it was all worth it).

In 2012, Bledel was a guest star on Mad Men's fifth season as Beth Dawes. Kartheiser, on the other hand, was a regular for the whole season. When they met on set, they fell in love quickly and said they were going out together. After two years, they got married.

Year:  2011 

Behind the scenes of "Game of Thrones," there was evidently love as well as dragons, wars, and monsters. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie started dating in 2011. They initially met one other on set of the HBO series. The genuine love story happened in 2011, but no one found out they were dating until the paparazzi took a picture of them holding hands.

Leslie played Ygritte, a woman of the Free Folk, in Game of Thrones, while Harington portrayed the show's most beloved character, Jon Snow. They got married in a real castle in 2018 and had their first kid in the dead of winter 2021.

19. Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli

Movie: Orange Is the New Black

Year:  2012

Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli began as friends, as do most successful partnerships. While working on Orange Is the New Black, the two actors became fast friends. While Morelli worked behind the scenes as a writer, Wiley starred in the show. The fact that Morelli was already married did not stop Wiley from becoming the love of her life.

Eventually, Morelli ended her marriage and started dating the lady she'd had a crush on ever since they met. Although they may have begun their relationship as friends, by 2016 they were engaged and the following year they were married. In 2021, the two women were finally able to start a family welcoming their beautifull child.

Movie: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Fasten your seatbelts, because you're in for a roller coaster trip that ends happily. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been together for a long time, and they make a great comedy team.

On the set of Will's programme The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1994, the two became acquainted. Jada was a strong contender for the position, but Nia Long ultimately won out because to her height. Will began dating Sheree Zampino, and the two eventually married and had a son, despite their previous connection. Will's relationship with Sheree did not work out, and he began dating Jada in 1995.

Movie: The Amazing Spider-Man

In 2010, with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man, moviegoers were treated to more than simply exciting superhero action. The film's leads, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, met while filming and started dating the following year, after each had ended a long-term relationship.

Even though they broke up in 2015, there was no bad blood between them. Someone said that they broke up because they were both too busy, but a friend told Cheat Sheet that they still have "immense love" for each other. Since they are still friends, it looks like everything turned out well for these two Spider-Man stars.

Movie: The Last Song

Year:  2009

In 2009, they started making The Last Song. That was also the year that singer Miley Cyrus and actor Liam Hemsworth started dating. The relationship between the Hollywood stars has been up and down for more than a decade, and the tabloids have been watching their every move.

Cyrus said that Hemsworth became her "best friend...in the world" after they met on the set. In 2019, they got married in a small, private wedding in Tennessee. This was Cyrus's way of going back to his country roots. Hemsworth and the Hannah Montana star broke up later that year, but they still had a lot of laughs and good times together over the years.

Movie: Revenge

Year:  2011 

Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman's characters, Emily and Daniel, were dating on the show and in real life after the two actors met on the set of Revenge. Until, that is (spoiler alert), Daniel was killed off in the fourth season.

The two started dating in 2011, and their romance is still going strong. VanCamp and Bowman are still happily married despite the show's cancellation in 2015. A fan favourite, VanCamp told People in 2021 that she is "so grateful" that she and her husband have been able to spend time together despite their hectic schedules.

Who can forget the love between Troy and Gabriella on High School Musical? HSM was a huge hit for Disney, and it wasn’t just a moneymaker, it was a matchmaker. The couple were both on- and off-screen sweethearts until 2011, when they split for good. The two actually began dating in 2005, a year before the movie was released. Hudgens said the pair “created a bond” from the very beginning of HSM.  

Movie: Tropic Thunder

Year:  2007 

Tropic Thunder starred a host of famous faces, including Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey, and, unforgettably, Tom Cruise. Jennifer Aniston, the ageless Friends actress, stopped by to visit the set because she was best friends with Ben Stiller.

It was there that she met her future husband, Justin Theroux. They didn’t begin dating for a few years, though Aniston did say that he was the “nicest person in the world.” They began dating in 2011, and they got married in 2015. Though the marriage didn’t last, the two say that they remain “best friends” who “look forward” to staying that way.

Movie: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Year: 2005

When Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson finally realized they had romantic feelings for each other, it was during the second season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. According to reports, Olson was the one to make the first move, during a party held by Fox.

Kaitlin later told Dax Shephard, “Like, once I fell in love with him, I realized that I was deeply in love with him in a way that I hadn’t been in love with anyone before.” They tied the knot in 2008 and walked away into the sunset. 

Movie: Jumper

Year:  2008 

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen met on the set of the 2008 movie, Jumper. Nosy paparazzi immediately spotted them making out in cars and very clearly dating, but it would quickly become more than that, as the Hollywood couple got engaged that same year.

Though they called off the wedding in 2010, the split wasn’t forever. They reconnected three months later before Christmas and, in 2014, Bilson and Christensen welcomed their child, a daughter named Briar Rose. The two split in 2017 due to their work schedules not lining up, but Bilson is now with a new actor boyfriend: S.N.L. star Bill Hader.

It took years before Adam Brody actually shared the story of how he and his wife, Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, fell in love. The two are notoriously private about their relationship (knowing the paparazzi, can you blame them?), and they even got married in semi-secret.

However, in March of 2021, Brody finally filled us in on all the details. The pair met in 2011 on the set of the movie The Oranges. They hit it off immediately, and they began dating quietly. Fans went into a tizzy when they started dating, and the pair have, in addition to having two kids together, co-starred in a couple of hit films. 

Movie: True Blood

Year: 2007 

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer met on the set of the HBO vampire drama, True Blood, back in 2007 when the pilot was first filmed. They started dating just a few months after filming wrapped, and they kept things quiet until going public with the relationship in 2009.

The onscreen vampires got married in 2010 in a private ceremony in Malibu, and they still live in California, close to where they both work. Paquin is starring in a series called Flack, while Moyer recently finished starring on the show The Gifted. The two have four kids, Poppy, Lilac, Charlie, and Billy.

When the hotly anticipated Friends reunion dropped in 2021, fans were shocked and elated when David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston admitted to having feelings for each other during the first season of Friends. However, the pair were hindered as one of them was always seeing someone.

After the reunion, the pair were reportedly spending a lot of time together, but David Schwimmer’s reps denied that anything romantic was going on with the pair. While they may not be an official couple yet, fans are still hoping for Ross and Rachel to end up together in real life.

Movie: The Mexican

As one of Hollywood’s most successful actresses, Julia Roberts’ love life has always come under the microscope. In 2001, she met Danny Moder while on the set of her hit movie, The Mexican. He wasn’t another cast member, but the man behind the camera.

Despite both being attached to other people at the time, there was an undeniable attraction between them. It clearly all worked out for the best, as they got married less than a year after meeting and went on to have three kids together. 

Movie: The Americans

Year: 2013

It’s no secret that Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys had undeniable chemistry as two married spies on The Americans, but their love story is actually far more complex than some may realize. The pair met around 10 years prior to starring on the popular show, but despite an attempt to make it happen from Rhys, it didn’t work out.

Years later when they reconnected on The Americans, Keri couldn’t even remember meeting her co-star in the past. However, it soon became clear that their chemistry wasn’t just between the characters. They started dating soon after the show aired and now share a son. 

Movie: Bosom Buddies

Tom Hanks is so likable, it’s almost difficult to imagine that he actually met his wife of many years, fellow actress Rita Wilson, when he was still married to his first wife, Samantha Lewes. Rita and Tom first crossed paths when he was starring on the show Bosom Buddies. Rita appeared in one episode.

He later told GQ, “Rita and I just looked at each other and — kaboing! — that was that. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied.” With his marriage already on the rocks, it didn’t take long for the split to happen. By 1988, Tom and Rita were happily married.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost might be married with a baby on the way now, but the pair met decades ago in 2006. They met on the set of Saturday Night Live. Johansson was hosting the show as a celebrity guest, while Jost was one of the cast members. Though they didn’t get together then, they made good impressions on each other and remained friends.

Fast-forward eleven years to the Black Widow’s second hosting gig in 2017. Both stars were single at the time, and they immediately hit it off and began dating. In 2021, they were married in a quiet, intimate ceremony, and the pair are expecting their first child together.

When you’re a lead actress on a show like Law & Order: SVU, you get used to guest actors coming and going. That being said, one guest actor caught the eye of Mariska Hargitay when he took up the role of a lawyer in a 2002 episode. Peter asked the actress if she would like to go to church with him.

In an interview with People, she confessed it was such a magical moment during the service that she just burst into tears. “I just started sobbing. Peter thought I was crying because I was so moved by the service,” she said. “No, it was because I was just overwhelmed, realizing he was the one.” They both said their vows two years later in Santa Barbara. 

Movie: Once Upon a Time

Year: 2011

Falling in love with Prince Charming might seem like an outdated trope reserved for fairy stories, but for Ginnifer Goodwin, it was a reality. The actress met her husband, Josh Dallas, while starring in the hit show Once Upon a Time. She starred as Snow White, while Dallas was Prince Charming.

There was an instant connection, but they both worried about crossing that line considering how closely they worked together. They got their happy ending when they decided it was worth the risk and got married in 2014 and welcomed two sons shortly after.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have the kind of enduring romance that many people hope for but rarely find. Mark confessed in an interview many years later that he was attracted to Kelly the very first time they met on the set of All My Children.

The pair played love interests on the show, but despite striking up a romance, they tried to keep it hidden from the cast and crew, determined to remain professional. Just a few months after they started dating, they eloped to Las Vegas and tied the knot in a very low-key ceremony. They’ve lived happily ever after since.

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons may seem like somewhat of an unlikely couple, but the pair have been thriving ever since meeting on the set of Fargo in 2014. They didn’t immediately start dating after recognizing the connection, instead choosing to wait a while. They went public with their romance in 2016 before Plemons popped the question a year later.

They welcomed their son, Ennis, in 2018. Both Dunst and Plemons like to live their life out of the public eye, but have mentioned each other several times in interviews, with Jesse calling his wife “amazing” and Dunst gushing over how dedicated her partner is.

Speaking of Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress dated Robert Downey Jr. in the 1980s. The two met on the set of Firstborn, a drama, in 1984. They were both just eighteen at the time, and they began dating, moving in together two months after they met. Parker said the two were young and in love, and they spent nearly eight years together.

Their relationship was derailed before the wedding bells could ring, as Robert Downey Jr. was going through a highly-publicized drug and alcohol addiction at the time. He said the addiction “didn’t jibe” with SJP, and, though he was “in love” with her, he couldn’t get his “act together.” The Iron Man star said that “love…was not enough” to keep the relationship going.

There was a time when Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin looked like they were in it for the long haul, but their marriage ended in 2014. Not long after the separation, Gwyneth appeared on Glee as Holly Holiday, where she was introduced to writer Brad Falchuk.

Even though they started dating and got married in 2018, they famously didn’t move in together until a year later in 2019. Brad and Gwynnie have been living in wedded bliss ever since, with Paltrow telling InStyle, “I adore my husband. He’s brilliant and deeply kind. I feel like he’s a real equal too. And he pushes me in the best ways. I really like being married. It’s fun.”

At the time they met on the set of the Lifetime movie Northern Lights, both of them were married to other people. They just couldn’t deny the spark, and eventually left their respective spouses to be together.

They married in 2011 and have presented a united front ever since, often attending red carpet events together. While they have yet to have any kids together, LeAnn is stepmom to Eddie’s two kids from his marriage to Brandi Glanville of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr have proved that two stars can have a lifelong love story. They first met on the set of the iconic teen horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997. They struck up a firm friendship that only blossomed into a romance two years later.

They got engaged a short time later and said their vows in 2002. They’ve been solid ever since, welcoming two kids and continuing to work, with Sarah still focusing on acting and Freddie branching out into the culinary world. 

Movie: The Light Between Oceans

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender are two of the most unassuming stars in Hollywood. Although both revered for their talent, they’re rarely tabloid fodder. The couple first crossed paths while filming The Light Between Oceans in New Zealand and have preferred to keep their relationship out of the public eye since.

They married in 2017, going on to welcome a child in 2021. Not much else is known about their relationship, but they appear to be happy with no sign of trouble ever making the headlines. In Hollywood, that’s a triumph in itself. 

Movie: A Beautiful Mind

Jennifer Connelly might be best known to some as the raven-haired teenager that lured David Bowie’s goblin king Jareth to his downfall in the cult classic movie Labyrinth. Her career has come on leaps and bounds since then, thanks to parts in movies like 2001’s A Beautiful Mind.

Despite being in other relationships at the time, the subsequent shock of the 9/11 attacks made Paul realize he couldn’t be without her. They married in 2003 and went on to have two kids together, raising them alongside Paul’s son from a previous marriage. 

Movie: Blood Simple

Year: 1982

Frances McDormand and her husband Joel Coen are like Hollywood royalty. Their romance blossomed when she auditioned for the part of Abby in the Coen Brothers’ first feature movie, Blood Simple, in 1982. McDormand very nearly turned the part down, all because she wanted to be able to attend an event involving her then-boyfriend.

Thankfully, she changed her mind. Blood Simple kick-started her career and her love life. They married two years later and share one son and multiple hit movies, including Fargo. Their relationship works in many ways, not least because they’re both so incredibly creative and talented. 

Movie: Family Ties

Year: 1985

Michael J. Fox hasn’t had the easiest of lives, but his wife Tracy Pollan has been with him every step of the way. The Back to the Future star was working on Family Ties in Hollywood when Tracy signed on to play his love interest in the show. Sparks flew, but Pollan was dating Kevin Bacon at the time.

By the time they were both cast in the same movie two years later, they were both single and ready to mingle. When Fox learned Tracy was unattached, he jumped at the chance to ask her out. They tied the knot in 1988, with Michael receiving his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1991. Fox often credits Tracy with being his rock.

After leaving a long-term relationship with Tracey Pollan, it didn’t take Kevin Bacon long to find new love. It all happened by chance. They both happened to be cast in leading roles in the PBS movie, Lemon Sky in the late ‘80s. Not long after meeting, they tied the knot.

They’ve been happily married ever since, often supporting each other on red carpets and gushing about their relationship. They share two kids together and have weathered a few public storms, including getting caught up in Bernie Madoff’s P[onzi scheme.

Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow both have a knack for humor, which might be why they get along so well. The pair first met on the set of Judd’s movie The Cable Guy in 1996, but Leslie wasn’t initially interested. Instead, she had her eye on director Ben Stiller.

Judd managed to catch her attention a short time after and they married just a year later, welcoming two kids, Iris and Maude. Since then, Mann has starred in numerous movies while Apatow has produced several, including Knocked Up and This Is 40, both of which Mann appears in. 

Movie: Brokeback Mountain

Year: 2004

Brokeback Mountain got a lot of attention on the awards circuit when it was released in 2005 for good reason. The love story was unlike anything Hollywood had seen before, thanks to Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. However, Heath was more distracted by co-star Michelle Williams.

Gyllenhaal later said that the mutual attraction between the two of them was obvious. They started dating before welcoming their daughter, Matilda Rose, in 2005. At the time of Heath’s tragic passing in 2008, they had been separated for five months. 

Movie: Midnight In The Switchgrass

Year: 2020

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox couldn’t seem more different if they tried, but the rocker and the former Transformers actress have been attached at the hip since meeting on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020.

Fox was previously married to Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares three kids. During an appearance on Lala Kent’s podcast, Fox said that herself and her new beau were “twin flames” likening them to two parts of the same soul in different bodies. They have been spotted on red carpets and at other events multiple times since.

Year: 2013

Even though Tig Notaro and her wife Stephanie Allynne met on the set of In a World…in 2013, it wasn’t an instant love match. The couple didn’t start dating until they met a year later at an award ceremony. At that point in her life, Stephanie hadn’t ever dated a woman before, so took her time to figure things out.

Six months later, the pair made their relationship official and went on to get engaged in 2015. Less than a year later, they said their vows in front of a small congregation including fellow comedian Sarah Silverman.

Year: 1963

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s love story is one of the most complex stories to ever unfold in Hollywood, both on and off the screen. The pair first crossed paths when they were cast in Cleopatra in 1963. At the time, they were both involved with other people, but they couldn’t deny their attraction.

Their relationship was plastered over the tabloids for the next few years, with the stars marrying for the first time in 1964. They parted ways a decade later, before remarrying in 1975 and divorcing again the following year.

When it comes to Hollywood power couples, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are one of the most famous ones. The supermodel and singer actually met on the set of Legend’s music video for his song, “Stereo.” They parted ways after the shoot, though they met up that night.

The two dated for a year before briefly breaking up. However, they were able to get it together, and they got engaged in 2011. They tied the knot in 2013, and they’ve been together ever since, cracking jokes about each other on social media and just being a cute couple in general. 

Movie: How to Build a Girl

Year:  2019 

Beanie Feldstein is an actress who became famous for her roles in Neighbors 2 and Booksmart. She would keep on taking roles, even stepping behind the camera as a director. Feldstein would fall in love with Bonnie Roberts, a film producer who was in charge of Feldstein’s new project, How to Build a Girl.

Feldstein played the starring role, while Roberts filmed from behind the cameras. The two fell in love, and Feldstein said she was “in love” with “all” of Roberts. They’ve since been snapped on the red carpet together, and here’s to hoping they’ll create more projects as a pair.

Technically, actors Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor first met on set in 2011, when the pair starred in Neighbours. They wouldn’t actually become friends until their next project together, The 100, which was first a play on the CW. Later, it would become a hit show, and, in 2014, CW shot the first pilot.

The 100 had seven seasons, and Morley and Taylor grew closer through all of them. They started dating. Now, the pair own a house together in Australia and are married. Taylor said that she and Morley made their dreams of “having conversations about the future on [their] porch” a reality.

Persia White and Joseph Morgan, two television actors, met on the set of the hit show Vampire Diaries. The drama was beloved by fans, and sparks flew between Morgan and White when they first met in 2011. Morgan played the role of Klaus, an original vampire, while White portrayed Abby Wilson, a witch and the mother of main character Bobbie Bennett.

White and Morgan dated for three years before they got married in sunny Ocho Rios, Jamaica in 2014. This wasn’t the first beau that White had met on-set. She met Saul Williams, her ex, when he had a guest appearance on her TV show Girlfriends, though the two didn’t work out as well as her and Morgan.

Movie: The Boys in the Band

Who doesn’t love a Broadway romance? That’s exactly the story that Tuc Watkins and Andrew Rannells have. The pair fell in love while making the Broadway play The Boys in the Band. In the theater production, Rannells and Watkins played Larry and Hank, two lovers in 1968 who were forced to live as “roommates.”

Happily, they didn’t have to keep their love a secret in 2019, the year they began dating. All the time they spent together on set led to a real-life romance, and they would continue their relationship when they worked on the Netflix film version of The Boys in the Band.    

Movie: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was a Netflix horror series starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, a young witch who has to defend her town from evil forces. The show was a hit (even though fans were sad that it was canceled so quickly), and a fantastic production wasn’t the only thing that the actors got out of Sabrina.

Ross Lynch, who played Harvey, and Jaz Sinclair, who played Rosalind, started hanging out on set and getting closer. According to Lynch, the two quickly became “the best of friends,” something the Sabrina writers no doubt liked, and that friendship soon blossomed into a relationship.

Fans of the Gilmore Girls might have always wanted Lauren Graham to end up with Luke in real life, but she found love her own way. The actress met her future partner Peter Krause in 2010 while filming the TV show Parenthood, where they both played siblings.

Lauren later told Good Housekeeping that it was a simple transition from friendship to romance. “We couldn’t stop talking. Not about ourselves, but about the world and books and family. Once we got together, there was no gameplay. It was like, ‘You like me, and I like you.’”

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall have one of Old Hollywood’s greatest love stories. Bacall, at age 19, was a model-turned-actress when she met Bogart (who was 45) on the set of To Have and Have Not. It was Bacall’s first leading role. The actress admitted that, when the two met, there wasn’t a “lightning bolt” or “clap of thunder.”

That changed over time, and the two began dating. Bacall and Bogart did four films together. They got married and had two kids. When Bogart was buried in Glendale, he was interred with a small golden whistle. The whistle was part of a charm bracelet he’d gifted Bacall before they were married.

Movie: Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect was an epic hit, and it got a lot of fans very quickly. Two of the stars of this hit movie, Anna Camp and Skylar Astin, became friends on-set. They were introduced to one another by a mutual friend and, after, they were inseparable. After finishing Pitch Perfect, they began dating.

They weren’t love interests in the movie, but they were in real life. Pitch Perfect 2 was released in 2015, and Camp and Astin got engaged two years later. They parted ways after two years of marriage, but fans still remember the love story, though it was fleeting.

Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy were an iconic Hollywood couple, both on and off the screen. The pair starred in nine movies together, beginning with Woman of the Year, a comedy-drama. Hepburn and Tracy played two journalists who fell in love while trying to balance their careers with their love life.

Hepburn said that she found Tracy “irresistible” immediately after meeting him. Unfortunately, they had to keep their love a secret. They had a twenty-seven-year-long affair because Tracy, a Catholic, refused to divorce his wife, Louise. It wasn’t until his wife died that Hepburn publicly acknowledged their nearly three-decade affair.    

Movie: Slumdog Millionaire

Dev Patel, Oscar-nominated actor, and Freida Pinto, a BAFTA-nominated actress, met in 2007 on the set of Slumdog Millionaire, a hit movie that would clean up at box offices worldwide. The pair played love interests in the film, and it would later be revealed that Patel had a hand in Pinto getting cast.

Patel was asked to pick which actress he’d want to “take on a date.” He chose Pinto. Pinto called things off with her fiancée in 2009, and rumors immediately started that she and Patel were dating. The pair dated for a few years before calling it quits.

Glee fans couldn’t get enough of the relationship between Blake Jenner and Melissa Benoist. Jenner joined the cast of Glee in 2012 after he had been on The Glee Project, a reality series. Sparks flew on set, and Jenner and Benoist began dating soon after.

In 2015, it was revealed that they were married, though the word on the Hollywood street was that they’d tied the knot in secret years before. However, as followers of the couple’s Instagram accounts know, not everything was smooth-sailing (they put a lot of their business onto the social media site). The pair divorced in December of 2017.

Of course, we couldn’t have a list of couples who met on-set without including two Marvel fan favorites, Zendaya and Tom Holland. The couple is one of young Hollywood’s best and brightest, and their dating confirms what Marvel fans knew all along: they always loved each other.

Holland and Zendaya met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. In that movie, Zendaya played Peter’s love interest. The character arc continued in Far From Home in 2019, and they will appear as a couple in No Way Home. The pair began dating in 2021, after five years of being just friends.

Disney couples come and go (remember Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens?). One such couple was Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas. Lovato and Jonas have a lot in common—they’re both singers and actors, and they were both in the Disney movie Camp Rock.

The film was released in 2007, which was when the pair first met, but it wasn’t until 2010 that they began dating after working together on Camp Rock 2. Lovato confirmed in a quote to Access Hollywood that they and Jonas, who was then thirty, were now dating. They said that they “fell in love” with Jonas on the set the second time around.

Speaking of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, who he met on the set of High School Musical, wasn’t the only co-star he fell in love with and began dating. Efron met Halston Sage on the set of Neighbors in the spring of 2014. The two got close on the set, and they began dating shortly after.

An E! News source said that the two were first photographed together canoodling on the set of Neighbors. After Efron went to rehab, the two got even closer and became boyfriend and girlfriend. The two appear to be still dating, though who knows with these young Hollywood stars. 

Movie: Annie

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale met on the set of the musical Annie. Cannavale explained that he chose the movie, which is admittedly not in his usual genre because he “always wanted” to shoot a musical. He said he always would try to do something different with every film he made, and so he picked Annie.

It’s lucky he did, as that is where he met Rose Byrne. The two have been together for seven years and counting, and they have two kids. The co-stars and co-parents aren’t legally married, though they do call each other “husband” and “wife” because it’s just “easier.”

Movie: Gossip Girl

Year: 2007 

It’s hard to think of actress Blake Lively with anyone other than jokester and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. However, before she hooked up with her now-husband, she dated her Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley. The two were new to show business when they met on the set of the upscale drama in 2007.

The two dated secretly for three years, keeping the relationship from their co-stars and all but their close family and friends. When the two broke up, no one on the set even knew until the season two Gossip Girl finale. Now, both are married to other people, and there seem to be no hard feelings.

Movie: Descendants

Descendants was a Disney movie set in present-day Auradon. The fantasy movie was a spinoff of some of Disney’s most classic films, and it featured a chance for the offspring of Disney villains like Jafar, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, and the Evil Queen to find redemption.

Dove Cameron and Thomas Doherty, two stars of the movie, met on the set and began dating the next year. Rumors spread around the two, but it wasn’t until 2016 that they confirmed they were together. Sadly, it didn’t last, and the two separated after three years together. Both showcased their new beaus in April of 2021.

Movie: The Notebook

Year: 2003 

In 2003, The Notebook was released. The Nicholas Sparks film was a romantic tear-jerker, but it wasn’t exactly love at first sight for Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Gosling reportedly hated working with McAdams, and the two butted heads on just about everything.

Despite their on-set fighting, they managed to get through it and begin dating. Gosling McAdams started dating two years later, and they were together until 2007. Apparently, the co-stars’ failure to get along on the set of The Notebook carried over into real life, though Gosling did describe the short relationship as “more romantic” than the hit romantic drama. 

Movie: Bohemian Rhapsody

Year: 2018 

Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 2018, and fans were amazed at Rami Malek’s uncanny portrayal of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen. The movie was a biopic on Mercury, charting his journey with Queen to his solo career and reunion. Bohemian Rhapsody made $904 million at the box office.

Accolades for Rami Malek weren’t all the veteran actor got from the movie. He met his girlfriend, Lucy Boynton, on the set of the film. They were love interests in Rhapsody, too. It wasn’t until 2019, when Malek thanked Boynton in an acceptance speech at an awards ceremony, that fans realized the two were real-life dating. 

Movie: Gossip Girl

Year: 2007   

Sebastian Stan and Leighton Meester met on the set of Gossip Girl in 2007. While it’s hard to think of the tough-as-nails Marvel ex-assassin being on a show like Gossip Girl, he was, and it was where he met his ex-girlfriend. The two began dating in 2008, and they broke up in 2010.

Rumors of their romance swirled in 2008 when people noticed that they were very touchy-feely at an industry dinner. Stan would later call Meester the most “interesting” and “sophisticated” person he knew. Though they were thought to be engaged, that was fake, and the two parted ways two years after dating. 

Movie: Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl wasn’t just a hotbed of drama on-screen, it was also a hotbed of drama on the set and off. It turns out that the drama was a big meeting place for a lot of short-lived romances, from Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan to Blake Lively and Penn Badgley.

One more log on that fire is the relationship between Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick, who also met on the set of the show. The two dated from 2009 to 2010 until Westwick dumped Szohr after hearing rumors that she was getting a little too close to one of his best friends. Talk about Gossip Girl come to life.  

Movie: Riverdale

Year: 2017 

Jughead and Betty are super in love on the teen drama Riverdale, but things are a little more complicated outside the show. Former Disney star Cole Sprouse and his Riverdale co-star, Lili Reinhart, met on the set of the show in 2017. They dated on and off until March of 2020, before they officially parted ways.

There doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings, though Sprouse quickly moved on with a model. He also posted a confirmation in August of 2020 about his and Reinhart’s breakup, saying that he wishes the actress “nothing but…love and happiness” in the future. 

Movie:  Deep Water

Year: 2019 

Obviously, as anyone following the headlines knows, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are back together, providing a fitting new beginning to their twenty-year-long love story. But, before J. Lo, there was Ana de Armas.

The actress and Affleck met on the set of Deep Water, a thriller that was shot in 2019 but took two years to release because of the events of 2020. Affleck and de Armas were spotted traveling to Cuba in March of 2020 on their last romantic getaway. The relationship did not last, and they ended their romance in a split that was “completely amicable.”

Movie: Outer Banks

Year: 2020

Fans of Outer Banks know that Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes have some serious chemistry. For a while, people thought that the two met on the set of the horror-thriller Stranger Things.  Stokes corrected that misunderstanding, explaining that they weren’t in the same season, and were only on the set together for “one millisecond.”

The pair actually got to know one another on the set of Outer Banks after meeting a week before they began filming. Cline, who starred in Boy Erased, and Stokes made their relationship Instagram-official in June of 2020, delighting fans who love the couple together on the treasure-hunting drama. 

Movie: Desiree 
Location: Monterey Peninsula, California
Year: 1954 

Rita Moreno and Marlon Brando had a whirlwind affair that lasted seven years. The actress would later describe the romance as “near-fatal,” calling Brando the “lust of her life.” The tumultuous affair was riddled with drama, which proves that relationships, even back in the “Golden Years” could be the stuff of soap operas. For example, Moreno admitted in her memoir that she had an affair with Elvis Presley to make Brando jealous.

Moreno and Brando met on the set of Desiree, a Napoleon biopic. Moreno was twenty-two at the time, and she described their meeting as a “full-body blush,” saying that she felt like she’d been “dropped into a very hot bath.”  

Movie: Rebel Without a Cause 
Location: Los Angeles, California
Year: 1955 

Rebel Without a Cause was a huge moneymaker for studios. It brought in $4.6 million in the 1950s against a $1.5 million budget. Front and center was “extraordinarily good acting” by lead James Dean, who would tragically die in a car crash just three weeks before Rebel opened. Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood also starred, and Wood and Dean struck up an on-set romance during filming.

Wood was using the film to transition into adult roles, and she had Dean to thank for getting the part over Jayne Mansfield and Debbie Reynolds. The two would meet in a Chateau Marmont bungalow during filming, though their love affair, tragically, never became anything more.  

Movie: Frankenstein

Year: 1995 

Another drama-filled relationship is that of actress Helena Bonham Carter and Kenneth Branagh. The pair first ran into each other at a poetry reading on a boat that was cruising down the Thames, but it wasn’t until seven years later that they began an affair.

On the set of Frankenstein, the two fell for one another. Unfortunately, Branagh was still with his ex-wife, actress Emma Thompson, at the time. He split with Thompson a year later. The actress said that her tearful Love Actually scenes were based on her own experiences with Branagh breaking her heart “very badly.” There’s no word on how Bonham Carter and Thompson feel about each other now, but we’re guessing it’s not positive.

Movie: Stage Beauty

Year: 2003 

Mary Louise Parker pulled the curtain back on Billy Crudup and Claire Danes’ relationship, which formed when they met on the set of Stage Beauty. Parker and Crudup had been together for quite some time, but, in 2003, the Without Limits actor left Parker while she was seven months pregnant to pursue a relationship with Danes.

Danes opened up about the relationship, saying she was “in love” with Crudup and “didn’t…know what [the] consequences” of the relationship would be. Though the public backlash was intense and Danes and Crudup didn’t last, the actress said she eventually made peace with the affair and moved on from it.

Movie: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Year: 2014 

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was a comedy-horror film set in 1800s England. A mysterious plague turned the countryside into a veritable war zone, converting people to zombies left and right. Lily James starred in the film as Elizabeth Bennet, while Matt Smith starred as non-lead Parson Collins.

The zombie-filled movie might not have seemed quite like a romance, but it sparked a relationship between James and Smith. The pair began dating in 2014 after they met on set, and, after they were spotted attending the Cannes Film Festival together that year, it was all but settled that they were dating. 

Movie: Charlie’s Angels

Year: 1999

In 1999, Tom Green and Drew Barrymore met on the set of Charlie’s Angels. The actress was a big fan of Tom Green’s show, and she asked him to appear in the girl-power thriller. He agreed, and the two began dating almost immediately. One year later, they were engaged.

They got married in 2001, nearly a year to the date after they were engaged. The marriage didn’t last, and, five months later, they split. Barrymore and Green proved that it was water under the bridge in 2021 when Green appeared on the actress’ talk show. The pair hadn’t spoken for fifteen years, but the interview went smoothly, with Barrymore even sending Green’s parents, her former in-laws, her “love.” 

Movie: Planet of the Apes

The working partnership between Helena Bonham Carter and director Tim Burton has resulted in some pretty fantastic movies, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

It was on the set of another movie that the pair met. Burton and Bonham Carter met on the set of Planet of the Apes, a 2001 blockbuster that Burton directed. Actress Lisa Marie, Burton’s live-in girlfriend, was also in the movie, but the director only had eyes for Bonham Carter. Bonham Carter and Burton began dating, and they were together until 2014.

Movie: Pushing Tin

Year: 1999

The relationship between Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton was something else (remember when they wore vials of each other’s blood around their necks?). The pair met on the set of Pushing Tin, a 1999 comedy-drama that made $8.4 million at the box office.

The two met and fell in love on the set of the movie. Jolie had split from her ex-husband, Jonny Lee Miller, a couple of years earlier. After Jolie and Thornton realized they had an instant connection, they began dating and eloped to Las Vegas the next year. They were married from 2000 until 2002. Though it didn’t work out, Jolie said she is still “good friends” with the actor.

Movie: The Golden Globe Awards

Harrison Ford has starred in some huge blockbuster movies, including the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series. In 2002, the actor met actress Calista Flockhart at the Golden Globes. They had an instant connection. Right before she met Ford, she’d adopted a son, Liam, and the actor was more than happy to take on a paternal role with Flockhart’s son.

Ford would later adopt Liam as his own. The two got married in 2010, and they’ve been together ever since, making the couple one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting relationships. Ford had been married twice before Flockhart, but she was the one that worked out.

Movie: Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girl fans remember the plotline between Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and her love interest, Jess Mariano (played by Milo Ventimiglia). On the show, the pair’s dating history was cut short by tons of drama. But, in real life, Bledel and Ventimiglia had a long relationship.

They began dating after they met on the set of the TV drama. They dated for four years, ending the relationship in 2006, right around the same time that the relationship went public. Fun fact: during Gilmore Girls’ run, Alexis Bledel dated three different co-stars from the show. Now, she’s married to Mad Men actor Vincent Kartheiser.

Movie: One Tree Hill

Year: 2003 

Another relationship that came from a teen TV drama was the one between Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush. The actors met on the set of One Tree Hill. Both were in their early twenties, even though they were playing high-schoolers, and their on-screen characters dated on and off during the show.

The two began dating offscreen, too. They started dating in 2003 and got married in 2005. Just five months after getting married, they got divorced. Bush asked for the marriage to be annulled because of “fraud.” Later, she’d say the two had “no business” dating and marrying each other.

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana starred in Guardians of the Galaxy together, but the pair met years before that, on the set of The Words, a 2011 film. The two dated briefly, but things didn’t pan out, and they broke up a year later in December of 2012.

Saldana said that she usually doesn’t remain friends with exes, telling Marie Claire that she prefers to just “mov[e] on.” However, she made an exception for her co-star, and she said that things weren’t weird between her and Cooper. She called him “very dedicated” and “professional.” Female co-stars, including Jennifer Lawrence and Lady Gaga, have also spoken highly of the star’s professionalism and work ethic.

Movie: Her Smell

The working relationship between supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne and actress Ashley Benson far predates their personal relationship. The two met on the set of Her Smell, a 2018 movie, featuring Cara as Crassie Cassie and Ashley as Roxie Rotten, two members of Akergirls, a fake band.

The two started dating shortly after meeting on-set, though they called it quits in 2020. Delevingne told her fans to leave Benson alone and stop “hating” on her, saying that only she and the actress “knew the truth” about their relationship. The supermodel said that stress was the main contributing factor to her split from Benson.

Movie: The Vampire Diaries

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev met on the set of the horror-drama The Vampire Diaries. The two were one of many couples who felt a spark on the TV show, and the relationship between Damon and Elena delighted fans.

The two broke up in 2013, though Dobrev didn’t leave the show for another two years. Though the exes had to work together, they were quite professional, and their co-star, Claire Holt, said it “never got weird” on set between the two. The Peaky Blinders star died from cancer, and fans everywhere mourned the loss of such a talented and unforgettable member of Hollywood.

Jennifer Grey and Matthew Broderick were at the peak of their acting careers when they got together. The two were in a fatal car accident that killed two people. Broderick was convicted of reckless driving, but he received only a $175 fine for the charge. Broderick and Grey’s relationship didn’t last, ending in 1998. Nine years later, Broderick married Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker.

Things immediately became tumultuous, and the pair separated in 2016. They got formally divorced in 2017, it was after the divorce that both parties began making accusations against one another. The drama has continued for Depp and Heard, as they’re still battling it out in the media about who did what.

The pair were together for a total of fifteen years, and fans were devastated to learn that, in 2017, Fishburne filed for divorce from his former co-star.

They were married from 2016 until 2018, with multiple breakups and makeups in between. The two showed signs that all might not be lost in June of 2021, as they were spotted on a bike ride together.

Though there were certainly bad feelings between them during the breakup, Stewart revealed in 2020 that the two are “still friends.”

FKA Twigs said that Shia showed her “big displays of affection.” That line was taken straight from the musician’s lawsuit against the actor, who she is suing for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and assault. Hopefully, the situation gets resolved so that everyone can move forward.

Movie:  “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” Music Video

Jennifer Lopez, in a 2021 interview, said she “doesn’t really count” her wedding to Cris Judd as one of her marriages (we’re not sure how Judd feels about that statement). The music superstar met Judd, a backup dancer, on the set of her music video for “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” in 2001.

Judd had a different attitude towards the relationship, saying that, the first time he saw J. Lo, he knew he was “going to marry” her. The pair became official when they attended the Oscars together that year, an event that Judd later called complete “bedlam.”

Wood and Swindells dated on the show but, much like their real-life, off-screen romantic relationship, it didn’t work out (though we assume the split was for different reasons than those pictured on Sex Education).

Pride and Prejudice was an award-winning film that helped further both Keira Knightley’s and Rupert Friend’s careers. The two starred as Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Wickham, respectively, and they began dating shortly after they met on the set of the 2005 drama.

Years later, they ended their relationship. According to inside sources, the grueling work schedules drove the two apart. They are both big-name actors, so it’s easy to believe that constant commitments would get in the way. Then again, who knows? Neither of the former couple has publicly confirmed why the relationship ended, even ten years later.

The romantic comedy has a lot of drama and touching moments, and, apparently, that rubbed off on the cast. Elordi and King began dating after they met on set, though their relationship ended in 2019, just a year later.

Before they even began dating, Dev Patel was calling Freida Pinto his soulmate. The two met in 2007 on the set of Slumdog Millionaire, their award-winning film. The two began dating in 2018, Instagramming their relationship a year later to make it official. Of course, this has led to a debate among Rodrigo’s large fan base. Fans wonder whether her hit single, “Driver’s License,” was about Joshua Bassett or Ethan Wacker. She has yet to confirm either.

This is yet another example of a couple that begins dating on a show and has that romance translate to real life. Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers, and Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, were a fan-favorite couple on Stranger Things. They played the formidable duo who helped take down monster after monster.

They developed a real-life romance, and the two have been going strong for nearly five years. They live together in New York City. According to Heaton, they kept their romance quiet because they weren’t sure “what [it] was” or whether it would work at first.

Jace Norman and Isabela Moner gushed about one another at the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards, revealing their relationship to the world. The Nickelodeon stars met on-set while filming Splitting Adam, and they would go on to work on several projects together afterward. According to Jake Griffo, their co-star, it was Griffo who was the matchmaker.

Like a lot of young love, the two split after seven months of dating. Jace confirmed the end of their relationship to Just Jared Jr. during a phone call. Though there has been speculation that Norman moved on with Cree Cicchino, those rumors appear to be unfounded.

The two confirmed that they were dating during a super-awkward interview in 2010. The two split up shortly thereafter (anyone who saw the interview wasn’t surprised), and both moved on. Of the costars that Vanessa Hudgens has dated, Zac Efron remains the most known-about.

Before he met Miley Cyrus on the set of Hannah Montana: The Movie, Lucas Till said he was so nervous that he couldn’t eat. Till never expected to nail the audition, and he said he was shocked when he got a callback after auditioning in Atlanta. He was thrown on the screen as Cyrus’ love interest, and he did a pretty good job, even though he had next-to-no experience.

According to J-14, the two began dating, though it didn’t really go anywhere. Miley Cyrus basically shut down the whole Hannah Montana thing, saying when she was eighteen, she just couldn’t bear to put on the wig anymore.

Taylor Lautner hasn’t had much of an acting career after the Twilight franchise ended, but Lily Collins has. The two had a low-profile relationship after meeting on the set of Abduction, the pair’s action-thriller. They were spotted going on dinner dates and making out in 2011, and Colins even came to visit Lautner on the set of Breaking Dawn.

So, the real question is, where is Taylor Lautner now? Team Jacob fans can rest easy, as he is currently working on a Netflix show called Home Team. Apparently, the reason his acting career slowed after Twilight was because he was typecast.

It’s unfortunate because when people think of Amanda Bynes, they usually think of her wacky antics and Twitter tirades. Pettyfer even got Roberts’ name tattooed on the inside of his finger. The two broke up in 2009, and, later, Roberts began dating Evan Peters, with whom she has had a tumultuous relationship.

Pettyfer was apparently very jealous, and he got into an argument with Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan, accusing him of flirting with Agron. The spread embarrassed Agron, who felt like the drama was way too much to handle. They split in February of 2011.

It was a long rumor, but it took until 2018 for Megan Fox to confirm that, in fact, she and actor Shia LeBeouf did date. LeBeouf confirmed it before her, but Fox refused until just recently. The two met on the set of Transformers in 2007, and they worked together again on the sequel.

The two had an on-set romance, but it didn’t go anywhere. Fox is now very publicly with rapper Machine Gun Kelly after a split from her longtime husband, Brian Austin Green, and LeBeouf is embattled with accusations and a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, artist FKA Twigs.

Let’s face it: Zendaya and Tom Holland are everyone’s favorite Marvel couple. The two met on the set of the M.C.U. powerhouse Spider-Man back in 2016. Holland was the latest addition to the franchise, and Zendaya played his love interest.

Even before the two began dating, Holland was gushing about Zendaya, saying that she was “amazing” and “great.” He said the two were “the best of friends.” The two stepped it up a notch and became more than friends in 2021 when a photo of the two kissing went viral. People had always speculated that they were dating, and it was finally confirmed.

Vampire Academy was based on the series of young adult novels by Richelle Mead. The film featured a paranormal school full of vampires. The movie made $15.4 million at the box office, and it starred Zoey Deutch, Sarah Hyland, Lucy Fry, Dominic Sherwood (the star of Shadowhunters), and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Though the movie might have been critically panned, one good thing came out of it: Hyland’s and Sherwood’s relationship. The two began dating after they met on set, even though Hyland had just broken up with her five-year-long boyfriend, Matt Prokop. The two dated for two years before they split.

The Inbetweeners is a beloved British comedy. The series features Will, Simon, Neil, and Jay, four students in high school, as they try to navigate the social scene, even though they’re hapless. The show aired its first episode in 2008, and it has three seasons in total.
