Gufi Paintal passed away. The role of Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra's Mahabharat made the seasoned actor famous. On June 5th, he passed away in Mumbai. The 78-year-old actor had been hospitalized for many days due to his poor health. Mukesh Khanna, one of his co-stars in the film Mahabharat, recalled Gufi, saying that he was the one who gathered everyone for their screen tests.

MUKESH KHANNA MOURNS GUFI PAINTAL'S DEMISE

The death of the actor occurred on June 5 at approximately 9 a.m. His heart just gave out on him. After hearing the news of his death, Mukesh Khanna said to ETimes, "We had a beautiful friendship and association. The news that Gufi Paintal has passed away is devastating. He was the backbone of BR Chopra's network. He was the one who organized Mahabharat and found us all jobs. He was responsible for the screen testing and the entire cast of Mahabharata.

To sum up their final discussion, Mukesh said, "He was not well since the last six months and I had messaged him a lot of times." This was Gufi Paintal's last known communication with Mukesh. He told me he's not feeling well in his reply. I hoped that he'd feel well soon. When we last chatted, about a month ago, he was awake but clearly not in good health. He had been sick for the past half a year. His body was so dehydrated that "paani bhar Gaya tha unki body mein" (water drained from his body). He ended up in the hospital, where they started him on oxygen. Through communication with his offspring, I learned of his passing.

REMEMBERING GUFI PAINTAL

Sarabjeet Singh Paintal's brother, Amarjit Paintal, was already a big name in Bollywood, so he joined the armed forces instead. After starting out in the casting industry, he went on to star in movies and TV shows of his own. His final Star plus program was Jai Kanhaiyya lal ki. Paintal was widely known in the Mahabharat as Shakuni Mama. Among the films in which he has participated are Dillagi, Suhaag, and Maidaan-E-Jung. He has also guest-starred on a number of popular television programs, including Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein, Karmaphal Daata Shani, Karn Sangini, and RadhaKrishn.
