Top 20 met gala looks 2023
The Met Gala is the night where people all around the world watch from the comfort of their couches to comment on the red carpet fashions and generate memes.
If the first Monday in May is always Met Gala night, then the first Tuesday in May must be dedicated to recapping fashion's biggest night. Last night was all about the Met Gala 2023 red carpet, and as we strive to compile a best-dressed list for this year's event, we have to wonder: Did people deliver?
Attendees were encouraged to "dress in honor of Karl" for this year's Met Gala, which was held in conjunction with the exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. There was enough of ideas to mine from the theme, but did it also look good? Those of you who consider yourself to be "fashion police" take note.
The Met Gala is the night where people all around the world watch from the comfort of their couches to comment on the red carpet fashions and generate memes. While best dressed may not be entirely up for grabs, it is in the realm of fashion, so why not have some fun with it? Find out who I think were the best dressed stars at the Met Gala 2023, regardless of the theme, and share your thoughts with us!
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky
Rihanna is a master of the ultra-fashionable late arrival at the Met Gala. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were this year's most recognizable combo, sparkling in Valentino and Gucci gowns. Rihanna, dressed like a bride in a white Valentino gown with camellia blossoms and a five-foot train, walked up the stairs. "It's Valentino, baby," she gushed to the cameras. A$AP Rocky, on the other hand, was dressed head to toe in Gucci, including a kilt that was clearly inspired by Karl.
Michaela Coel
The long, see-through Schiaparelli gown that co-host Michaela Coel wore was embellished with 130,000 crystals and 26,000 mixed stones. Details matter more than you think.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa, co-host and pop superstar, said her white and black tweed Chanel Bride ball gown from the '90s has "always" been a dream dress of hers. But it was her jewelry that was the real show stopper. She was wearing a white Legendary diamond necklace by Tiffany & Co. that had never been seen before. And the bling is almost 100 carats, so it can't be topped.
Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt, a Bollywood star, attended the Met Gala for the first time and looked stunning in a white Prabal Gurung wedding dress.
Jenna Ortega
Without a doubt, Jenna Ortega has been slaying every red carpet in sight as of late. She wore a dramatic, Victoriana Thom Browne tiny black corset dress with a cropped blazer to the 2023 Met Gala, giving the red carpet a Wednesday feel. Knee-high socks and black and white schoolgirl heels completed her preppy image. Extremely consistent with the brand's intended message and tone.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid arrived at the Met Gala in a figure-flattering, barely-there sheer black couture Givenchy gown in a sequence of images the day before that paid tribute to her late friend and renowned fashion mogul Karl. Pure happiness!
kim kardashian
Karl would have loved Kim K.'s Schiaparelli dress because of all the actual pearls it featured.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish is the undisputed queen of dark glam. The singer arrived on the red carpet wearing a black Simone Rocha gown with a corset and sheer lace. She joked on the red carpet that she had urged Simone to design the one-of-a-kind gown.
Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart accessorized her mullet with a look straight out of Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel Resort 2017 collection. Notes: nothing.
song hyekyo
Song Hyekyo, star of the film Glory, made her Met Gala debut in a stunning peach satin gown by the fashion house Fendi from the spring/summer '23 collection.
Yung Miami
On the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023, there were a few translucent dresses, but none could compare to Yung Miami's custom Act N°1 number, which included sculpted tulle and showstopping pearls.
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway told the camera, "Get a little Rosala in your head, and just hit it," as she struck a posture in a long, embroidered tweed dress that she compared to a "marriage between Versace and Chanel." Absolutely perfect phrase for it.
Gisele Bündchen
Gisele Bündchen's white Chanel couture silk and tulle dress with feather wings from a 2007 editorial photo with Lagerfeld caused the skies to open as she twirled on the Met red carpet.
Jeremy pope
A Balmain cape with Karl Lagerfeld's face on the train would be a fitting tribute. In all honesty!
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner Continues Her 'No-Pants' Trend at the 2023 Met Gala in a Daring Black Bodysuit
Kylie Jenner
Jenner wore a one-shoulder gown with an asymmetrical neckline and hem. She topped off the look with red stiletto heels, a red wrap with blue silk lining and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Bella Haddid
Bella Hadid stunned on the red carpet at the Met Gala on May 2 in a seductive black corset that accentuated her ample breasts.
Cardi B
Cardi paired her pearl and silver statement earrings with a pair of black opera gloves. She cut her long black hair into a haircut, flicked the ends, and secured them with a leather headband for a more modern look.
