Last night was all about the Met Gala 2023 red carpet, and as we strive to compile a best-dressed list for this year's event, we have to wonder: Did people deliver?

Attendees were encouraged to "dress in honor of Karl" for this year's Met Gala, which was held in conjunction with the exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. There was enough of ideas to mine from the theme, but did it also look good? Those of you who consider yourself to be "fashion police" take note.

Rihanna is a master of the ultra-fashionable late arrival at the Met Gala. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were this year's most recognizable combo, sparkling in Valentino and Gucci gowns. Rihanna, dressed like a bride in a white Valentino gown with camellia blossoms and a five-foot train, walked up the stairs. "It's Valentino, baby," she gushed to the cameras. A$AP Rocky, on the other hand, was dressed head to toe in Gucci, including a kilt that was clearly inspired by Karl.

Michaela Coel 

The long, see-through Schiaparelli gown that co-host Michaela Coel wore was embellished with 130,000 crystals and 26,000 mixed stones. Details matter more than you think.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa, co-host and pop superstar, said her white and black tweed Chanel Bride ball gown from the '90s has "always" been a dream dress of hers. But it was her jewelry that was the real show stopper. She was wearing a white Legendary diamond necklace by Tiffany & Co. that had never been seen before. And the bling is almost 100 carats, so it can't be topped.

Without a doubt, Jenna Ortega has been slaying every red carpet in sight as of late. She wore a dramatic, Victoriana Thom Browne tiny black corset dress with a cropped blazer to the 2023 Met Gala, giving the red carpet a Wednesday feel. Knee-high socks and black and white schoolgirl heels completed her preppy image. Extremely consistent with the brand's intended message and tone.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid arrived at the Met Gala in a figure-flattering, barely-there sheer black couture Givenchy gown in a sequence of images the day before that paid tribute to her late friend and renowned fashion mogul Karl. Pure happiness!

On the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023, there were a few translucent dresses, but none could compare to Yung Miami's custom Act N°1 number, which included sculpted tulle and showstopping pearls.
